"Director CS Leigh has crafted a cerebral and detailed look in to not only Rucci but the evolving art of Haute Couture." Fashion Reverie

It’s not everyday that one gets the chance to get a glimpse into the mind of an artist. We do just that with the London Fashion Week advance preview of A Quiet American: Ralph Rucci & Paris, a new documentary film by filmmaker CS Leigh which will take viewers on a four year journey following one of the world’s most revered fashion designers American couturier Ralph Rucci.

A Quiet American: Ralph Rucci & Paris explores the symbiotic relationship between Rucci and Paris the fashion capital of the world showing audiences the particular way in which Rucci collaborates with the great Haute Couture artisans and technicians of the city in order to create clothes that push the boundaries of what Couture can be in the 21st Century and beyond.

The film follows the designer for four years – or seven cycles of creating collections in Paris and New York, where Rucci’s brand Chado Ralph Rucci is based. The film reveals how each collection is prepared in the workrooms, from concept to creation, in the legendary ateliers of Paris to their production and right through to their presentation on the catwalk.

A Quiet American includes newly filmed interviews with dozens of people close to Rucci including Lee Radziwill, Cathy Horyn of the New York Times, Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune, Francisco Costa creative director of Calvin Klein, Hamish Bowles and Andre Leon Talley of Vogue, Francois Lesage of the esteemed embroidery house Lesage which dates back to the days of Marie Antoinette, Deeda Blair, James Galanos, Susan Gutfreund, Didier Grumbach, and many more.

The films of director CS Leigh include FAR FROM CHINA with Marianne Faithfull, Lambert Wilson and Steven Mackintosh and an original score by Suede, PROCESS starring Beatrice Dalle, Guillaume Depardieu & Leos Carax with original music composed and performed by John Cale, and SEE YOU AT REGIS DEBRAY about a week in the life of Baader Meinhof terrorist Andreas Baader.
