LETTIE playing a special set of songs from her new album, Good Fortune, Bad Weather Good Fortune, Bad Weather, is the third album from singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Lettie. It was recorded, written, and produced in the US with writer and producer, David Baron, with whom she also recorded her acclaimed first two albums, Age of Solo and Everyman. Fans of her music include Peter Murphy (Bauhaus), with whom she toured both Europe and the UK in 2009/10, Squeeze’s Chris Difford and The Cure’s Roger O’Donnell, both of whom she has supported live. The BBC have also been hugely supportive of her work: not only did she play a live session at London’s Maida Vale Studios for Dermot O’Leary’s Radio 2 programme, but she was also invited to perform on the BBC Introducing Stages at both the Glastonbury Festival and Jimmy’s Farm/Harvest Festival, in addition to which she was one of the featured artists in the BBC4 documentary, Hello Glastonbury.

DEADCUTS' MARK KEDS AND JEROME ALEXANDRE playing an electro-acoustic set “At the crux of myth and fact, there is Deadcuts. Formed on the first full moon of 2012, Deadcuts are the new treason; a fresh palette from a weary metropolis. Comprising perilous poetry and haunting riffs, Deadcuts encapsulate a feral mysticism and deadbeat glamour. From the Senseless Things to Jolt, the wraith like Keds has exerted an influence on the English music scene for more than a decade. He is the silent voice on the Libertines’ eponymously titled second album, having co-written Can’t Stand Me Now and can affect the tide of modish change with a lyric and a line-up as the mood takes him. Deadcuts guitarist, Jerome Alexandre, cut his teeth with The Skuzzies, whose debut, self-titled CD garnered praise in Classic Rock, Art Rocker, and Vive Le Rock. Deadcuts are sepia and nightfall, a scalding declaration of intent, the spectres come to take the crown.”

NINA ANTONIA AND JEROME ALEXANDRE performing black box verses Nina Antonia and Jerome Alexandre regularly collaborate, combining music with spoken word at live shows, and are currently recording an album of their work.Nina Antonia’s first book, Johnny Thunders – In Cold Blood (Cherry Red Books), which has now been in print for 24 years gaining cult status with each decade, marked the beginning of an off-kilter journey that has transcended the boundaries of rock journalism culminating in a collection of outsider literature, including her equally acclaimed biographies of The New York Dolls (Omnibus), Peter Perrett (SAF), and her glam memoir, The Prettiest Star (SAF). She is currently working on her new book, Jeunesse Brûlée, (Burned Youth) which features an introduction by Peter Doherty, with whom she also appears in Richard Wolsencroft’s upcoming film, The Second Coming, based on WB Yeat’s apocalyptic poem. Jerome Alexandre also appears in the film.

TOM BLAND performing poetry exploring Charles Bukowski’s line, ‘what matters most is how well you walk through the fire.’ Tom Bland is a storyteller and poet from London whose streets – full of faces and scars – constantly inspires his work. D. H. Lawrence calls poetry ‘chaos lit up by visions.’ In 2008 he won the Young Storyteller of the Year Award. He regularly performs at spoken word events and will be performing at GYPSY in the Field Festival in September 2012.

Nashville – Paris – Berlin: the music videos of Parisian filmmaker ZACK SPIGER

Through the evening we will be screening music videos created by the Parisian director and cinematographer, Zack Spiger. Eschewing digital and working only on film, predominantly 16mm, his beautifully crafted works should perhaps be more correctly termed short films.

GUY SANGSTER ADAMS hosting the evening and performing poetry filled with absurdist cultural observations and Cuban heeled flights of fancy. Guy Sangster Adams is the editor of Plectrum – The Cultural Pick, a multi-platform arts magazine with a bi-monthly print edition, whilst www.theculturalpick.com is home to the webzine edition which has a stand-alone content from the print edition, primarily focusing on reviews and previews.
