Conjuring ghosts from past, present and future Esther Swift holds a ritualistic Gathering of Light in The Horse Hospital in a series of poems, songs and tunes, accompanied by herself playing the harp and some pre-recorded sound effects. The concert takes its title from Carol-Ann Duffy’s poem, after Esther was originally commissioned by Manchester Jazz Festival to set a selection of her works to music. Drawing on her Scottish folk roots, and love of minimalism and rich harmony, Esther's work explores the fragility of art, and the importance of it as an act of connection, community and activism through times of change and challenge.
