The first event of the Whitechapel Gallery's London-wide Jonathan Meades retrospective will screen Meades' work on artists, photography and modernity. In Search of Bohemia sees Meades investigate how a hamlet in the New Forest and a Sussex seaside town are connected with the artists' studios of Chelsea, with Little Red Riding Hood and Puccini. The accompanying films also see Meades march around the British countryside with a Tony Benn-o-meter investigating the legacy of the 1960's 'White Heat of technology', before offering meditations on Robert Clayton's documentary photography on the everyday life of the Lion Farm Estate in the West Midlands.
