Dave McKean is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work spans comics, illustration, animation, film-directing, installation, music and performance. He is a long-standing collaborator of author Neil Gaiman on cult works such as Sandman, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Coraline, and has designed album covers, books and posters from everyone from Richard Dawkins to Tori Amos, from the Rolling Stones to John Cale. He is also a prolific filmmaker and his work with moving images echoes his illustrations with a heady collage of 2D and 3D, live narration and dreamlike journeys through impossible landscapes of the imagination.
Iain Sinclair is “a british writer, documentarist, film maker, poet, flaneur, metropolitan prophet and urban shaman, keeper of lost cultures and futurologist”. His recent works center around psychogeographical explorations of London from a variety of different angles, from Hackney’s history to the Olympic debacle, from the London Orbital to the resurrected Overground route. His work exposes the sediment of all the visible and less visible stories, histories and culture that have accumulated in the city through time, creating a continuity through the charmed act of storytelling.
Dave and Iain will meet at the Horse Hospital for one very special night of communal storytelling, exploring their friendship, their own individual journeys so far and those stories that have brought them to cross paths along the way.
Featuring moving image and live narration.
