Lipton’s pencil drawings occupy a space between the stage and the screen, dramatically capturing what seem like whole feature films in one freeze-frame of complex psychological narrative. Intense emotions are meticulously rendered in large-scale monochrome works that sing with colour as the pencil replaces the paint brush and palette, and the artist’s eye turns inward with extreme clinical precision.
