The London Underground Film Sessions is a bi-monthly night and aims to provoke, inspire and enthrall with a program of eclectic screenings, talks and performance from underground artists and filmmakers from across the globe. Setting up stall in the historic and eccentric environs of Bloomsbury’s Horse Hospital, each session offers the rare chance to experience an evening dedicated to truly unconventional film by artists working well outside of the mainstream.
This FEB 15th we will be continuing on from the successes of last year’s sessions, and have arranged an amazing selection of shorts and features
“Aion” By Nikolas Kasinos, David Sharkey, and Krista Papista; an alternate reality /dystopian future where people must hide their faith or risk violent retribution; a commentary on revolutionaries becoming the future conservatives
“Angel” A ballet film by Jerry Burns, Kyle Davey and Leigh Anderson
“Dssperation of Mimi” By Elina Panik; a stunning featurette
“An Actor’s Revenge” By Kon Ichikawa; The story of actor Yukinojo, a Kabuki female impersonator who uses his theatrical skills to deceive and destroy the men who drove his parents to suicide. Sexually ambiguous and formally innovative, it is the most stylised and ambitious of Ichikawa's films, and represents the summit of his achievement as a craftsman. -bfi films
