The Declaration of Independence Film Festival
Welcome to the inaugural Declaration of Independence Film Festival! Between the 1st and the 7th of June, we'll be presenting to London audiences the very best in new independent cinema from the USA and Canada. In conjunction with Ed Barber's exhibition Visual Athletics Club, The Horse Hospital will be hosting over twenty screenings of shorts, documentaries, features, panel discussions and events. Please visit the official festival website for full details and tickets. www.declarationfilmfest.org Over the course of the week at three central London locations, the festival will be screening no fewer than seventeen international feature premieres, with several more films making their British debuts. Most screenings will feature a Q&A with the director, and we have a whole package of special events, including panel discussions and live music. Our films have won awards and plaudits at all the major festivals, including Sundance, Toronto, SouthBySouthWest and Tribeca. Our features, documentaries and shorts represent the energy, the complexity and the incredible diversity of North America. At the Declaration FilmFest you can meet the slackers of Vancouver, Norwegian immigrants to 1920s Minnesota, New York's disaffected urban Asian youth, Vermont bootleggers, Los Angeles Holocaust survivors, Detroit hitmen, Lucha Libre wrestlers and the remarkable Darius Weems on the road trip of a lifetime across the USA.
