DIY POP VIDEO
A show curated by maverick artist, poet and musician Sexton Ming.
Sexton will give a talk about how to use the D I Y Punk ethic in music video making: how to use what you have at hand, whether it be with a low budget or no budget at all.
“If you can play three chords you can be in a band” Mark Perry of ATV fame once said. “If you can get your hands on a cheap, second-hand Camcorder you can make your own videos” says Sexton. And stick it to the Man at MTV.
Featuring work by amateurs and professionals who use such DIY techniques in creating, including
Shaney Pops Joe Whitney Lupin Crook and many others.
With live performances by some of the bands/artists that appear in the videos, including
The Rude Mechanicals Lupin Crook Black Spot and The Hand of Stabs with special guest Homeless Pagan
“The aim of this show is to inform the next generation that anything is possible when it comes to creativity. Not to believe the lies that such things like X Factor or Big Brother feed you. That one can make something that is entertaining, informative and expressive without knowledge, skill and especially vast sums of money. Creativity should not be just for the elite. Its for everyone.”
Sexton Ming is a British artist, poet and musician who was a founding member of The Meadway Poets and the Stuckists art group.

The Light & Shadow Salon is a place for artists, writers and audience to meet and share ideas about the past, present and future of the moving image in all its forms.
The Salon is a place for exchange, interaction and cross-pollination and it welcomes active contributions and interventions from all its participants.
The Salon endeavours to support a structured and informed dialogue around film, the moving image and all that it involves: from magic to science, from sound to the eye, from ritualism to storytelling, from myth-making to hypnosis.
The Salon intends to act as a temporary and ephemeral container for all the work, ideas and people with an independent, radical and idiosyncratic nature, who renounce to find a home in existing movements/institutions but rather embrace the nomadic and transitory nature of art.
The Salon supports individual thought, inquisitive minds and a desire to further knowledge through dialogue and exchange.
